De-stress Family Travel

A survey conducted for Dodge by Kelton Research found that while eight in ten Americans plan to drive for their next family vacation, six in ten find this type of family travel stressful. To help ease some of this stress, Dodge has teamed up with travel expert Susan Foster to offer a few tips to de-stress family travel.

According to Susan, one of the biggest triggers for stress while traveling is boredom. Many vehicles today offer DVD players and places to hook up your child's favorite video games. If your vehicle doesn't already have this feature, you can buy these boredom-busters and most department stores. With prices starting at $188, it is a small price for a peaceful road trip.

Bring games and busy activities to keep kids quiet as well. Travel in some of the newer vehicles, such as a Dodge Grand Caravan, makes this easy with tables and swivel seats. Today's vehicles can make your van a home away from home.

Another way to reduce travel related stress is to plan ahead. Make a list of what you need. Clean out your vehicle a day or two ahead of time. Pack your car the day before you leave.

Consider a GPS along with your road map. Nothing is more stressful than getting lost.

Make the the whole trip fun, not just the destination. Stop at interesting places along the way. Who knows, you may find a new destination for your next family vacation.
